My blog will focus on ships and navies, with occasional discussion of aviation matters. I want to transmit my impressions of the ship design profession's glorious history and current decline. I have some things to say that are strictly technical and will have a limited audience, but I will try to keep my posts accessible to a general reader.

I have been working as a naval architect since 1979. I have been a boat owner since my teens, with many happy hours since then spent racing and cruising on six boats I've owned and numerous boats owned by others. I also have a pilot's license (including multiengine and instrument ratings).
